FROGS & SALAMANDERS
Saturday, June 16
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
This hands-on experience with native Michigan frogs and salamanders is great for the family of all ages. Learn to identify frogs from their unique spring breeding calls. Hidden Lake Gardens volunteer, John Skinner, will teach this class on aquatic ecology and lead us on a tour of wetlands at Hidden Lake Gardens. Here we will listen for frog calls and catch and release frogs, tadpoles and aquatic insects with nets from a shallow pond. Old shoes or water proof boots are encouraged. Register early to ensure a spot in the class.

Summer Performing Arts Camp
Acting for Stage and Film July 16 – July 27, 2012
This two week summer acting camp takes place outdoors on the beautiful grounds of Hidden Lake Garden. There will be a public performance of the students work the evening of the final class. The camp includes acting for stage and film, audition techniques,scene work, improvisational acting, and voice and movement training. Taught by Michele Messmer whose experience includes professional work on camera(film and commercial) as well as on stage in equity theatres in Michigan,Chicago and New York. Recent credits include the soon to be released Hollywood films Five Year Engagement and Detention of the Dead.

Owl Prowl
Tuesday, August 21
7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Carl Harsh, Tecumseh High School biology teacher, will lead a twilight walk in search of screech owls. You will learn about the life and habitats of these incredible nocturnal birds of pray, and see how screech owls respond to calls. This is an enjoyable class for the family (although not suitable for very young children.) Bring a flashlight and insect repellant. An adult must accompany children.
