    Adopt-A-Highway

    Location: Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

    Join the Friends of Hidden Lake Gardens in clearing trash and debris from our entry way.  Michigan Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program provides volunteer care for 6,400 miles of roadways, and has collected over one million bags of trash.  Participants must be age 12 or older.  Meet in the Visitors Center.  9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

    Preschool Program - Terrific Turtles

    Location: Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

    Turtles are best known for being slow yet winning the race. Learn more about turtles and how they carry their house with them wherever they go.  A craft and a snack will be included in this slow and steady program. Class is open to children age 3 to 7 years old. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Cost:  $8 per child / $6 Friends of HLG. Registration is required, please call 517-431-2060.

    Nature Hike and Garden Walk

    Location: Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

    Tecumseh District Library patrons are invited to spend an evening hiking the trails or walking the gardens at Hidden Lake Gardens. HLG staff and volunteers will guide TDL guests on a nature hike or garden walk - your choice - highlighting the beauty of nature and plants on a midsummer evening. Family-friendly event.     Plein Air Painting

    The Clinton Arts Center will conduct a Plein Air Painting event at Hidden Lake Gardens on Friday, July 28, and Saturday, July 29.     Homes for Birds

    Birds amaze us with their ability to fly through the air. But where do birds live, sleep, and eat? Join us as we look for birds at Hidden Lake Gardens. Decorate a birdhouse to take home.     The Art of Bonsai

    Location: Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

    The annual Art of Bonsai takes place on Sunday, September 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Local bonsai growers will enter and display their miniature trees in the Bonsai Show in the Visitors Center. The Art Exhibition:  “Inspired by Bonsai” will be open to public view, plus a reception for visitors to meet the artists occurs from 1 to 3 p.m.  Bonsai experts will conduct informal learning sessions on how to start and grow bonsai. Vendors specializing in bonsai will have plants, pots, and other supplies available for purchase. The Hidden Lake Gardens Bonsai Collection will be staffed by our Bonsai volunteers providing demonstration and conversation on all things bonsai. The Art of Bonsai event is included in the regular admission to HLG. Admission to the Bonsai Show is $3 per person.

    The Art of Bonsai

    Bonsai Show, Art Inspired by Bonsai Exhibit, Plant and Supply Vendors, Learning Sessions, and, of course, the Hidden Lake Gardens Bonsai Collection will all be featured during The Art of Bonsai celebration. The Bonsai Show is a $3 entry fee; all other activities and events are included with the regular admission to HLG. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    Run for the Hills! 1 Mile and 5K Run/Walk

    Location: Hidden Lake Gardens, Tipton, MI

    Oh These Irish Hills! will conduct its annual “RUN FOR THE HILLS!” 1 mile and 5K Run/Walk at Hidden Lake Gardens. Take on the “Hilliest Course in S.E. Michigan” with your choice of 1 mile or 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) distance. Awards to individuals in various age categories, plus the Team Challenge award for racers in groups of 3 or more.
